Kingston Memory and DS920+? |

I bought a DS920+ and after watching a few videos, yours included, I bought the Kingston KCP426SS8/16 16 Gb SODIMM RAM that you listed on your site. I tried three times - It will not boot up with it installed. Power light stays blinking, and I do not get a POST beep or any other reaction. Is it possible that this has been changed in the BIOS that it won't accept any other memory but theirs? I'm going to be severely disappointed if that's the case. Hoping you've got some insight, or maybe something I missed. Thanks for the help!

Hello,
I'm from Indonesia and I'd like your help with me choosing a NAS.
Currently I already have WD MyCloud (not the Home edition) with 3TiB capacity. It is so old that I already fill 99% of it's available capacity. So now, I decided to buy NAS that can be, how to say it, upgraded, it's capacity. I choose WD Red to be filled with my future NAS.
I use my current NAS for mixed purpose, like streaming video, saving Office files, or backup. But mostly I use it to streaming video.
I actually already satisfied with my WD MyCloud. Whether it's user features or performance. Except for it's built-in capacity of course.
But if I can get a better transfer speed, it is better. Assumes I'm using capable switch or router to do it's maximum transfer speed.
For Plex, even if I could give it a try, but I don't mind not having it. I once try it with my WD My Passport Wireless Pro and it's unbelievably running at a snail's pace.
It would be very helpful if you can advise me NAS products from each manufacturer. I try to avoid Synlogy, QNAP, Thecus, and TerraMaster. But if it's prove to be better, then please.
Thank you.

I am interested in a feature comparison between the Synology Rs819 and the Rs820+ Is there really a difference between them besides price. I want to purchase one or the other but not sure which is actually better for in feature, benefits, and future proofing. Any assistance you could provide would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Mike

Inexpensive Option to get started.? |

I am looking to get started in transitioning to a nas that supports apps to bring current cloud storage and activities in house. I do not have initial capital to purchase what I would like (Synology DS920+) or something equivalent. A system with 4 bays seems to be ideal but not sure I need to start there. Would purchasing a lesser system and then upgrading be viable (can disks be transferred from one Synology device to another or should I look into something like TerraMaster and make that work?

Synology for a file server? |

Hi,
first of all, I'm a regular viewer of your youtube content and learned a lot by watching your videos. Now, we're in the midst of replacing our venerable Win 2008 R2 server that served us well, and initially served as an ActiveDirectory DC, a file server and ESET NOD console, and a Autodesk Flexnet licensing server. We added a newer server 5 years ago that took over as the domain controller, and now, as we grew as a company, we have a much bigger need for file services than before. Up until now, users filled just below 300GB of data but now the projected usage should be around 80TB (I'm planning to setup client PC backups on it). So 8x 10TB drives should do (this is all overestimation!). I already use a DS214+ for server backups and it works flawlessly for its role. Should I just get a Synology RS1221RP+ and fill it with WDs and/or Ironwolves/Pro? Or should I consider something else? Thanks in advance.

Quiet NAS Drives? |

2u Server SilverStone RM21-308 case. Want to start off with just 2 drives for UnRAID but want them to best quiet(ish) as its in my living room but durable enough to run 24/7 most days. Anything 10TB+ is good. The 2u server is also in a rack enclosure which should help with noise. About 12-15 feet from my couch. Again biggest concerns are noise and durability, performance would be a nice 3rd factor but the first two are paramount.

Hi,
First of all, sorry for my bad english writing :-)
I have been looking at this NAS QNAP TS-h886 and it looks verry good. But I have heard that QNAP is not so good on customer service, I was looking at a youtube video that sceered me a lot. Do I have to be sceered to not get help.
Take a look at this youtube video please. What do you think about this? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ELJcjn-OcZ4
I have also looked at your youtube video for comparing ts-h886 and synology 1621xs+ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eSU2WtsYSIg&t
My purpose for a NAS is 3 things. Backup for my computers in my network, filesharing on my network and maybe the most important thing is Virtualization to setup diffrent system like Pi-Hole, Win Server 2019 and some other system. What do you think here. Witch do you think is the best NAS for virtualization.
And I will thank you for an EXCELENT youtube channel you have. I found it verry usefull :-)
