  CWWK NAS
Posted by: Enquiries - Yesterday, 03:35 PM - Forum: Before you buy Q&A - No Replies

Hello,

Is this NAS mobo, different from the one you made your YT video on??

https://cwwk.net/products/q670-8bay-nas-mini-itx-motherboard-upgraded-version-lga1700-supports-intell12-14-gen-processors-ddr5-dual-4k-displays-5x-usb3-2-8-sata3-0-ports-i226lm-2-5g-with-vpro-q670-2xsff-8643?variant=46801665622248

What would the power consumption be like as a NAS setup, the website mentions a TDP of 65W- 125W, can this be true?? If so, how to get the Power consumption to be lower??

Kind Regards
Vinay

  Migrate DS220+ to Terramaster F4 424 pro
Posted by: Enquiries - 12-24-2024, 03:35 PM - Forum: Before you buy Q&A - No Replies

Hey guys, I was impressed by your video content regarding Terramaster F4 424 Pro and Max.
Looking into best way to migrating data from my old DS220+ stored in SHR volume with BTRFS and not buying any additional HDDs.
Unfortunately I haven't seen any tutorial out there from anyboby.

Worth for you to make video about I would think.

  application installation best practise
Posted by: Enquiries - 12-23-2024, 04:00 PM - Forum: Before you buy Q&A - Replies (1)

hello,
after reviewing different solutions, I am considering buying an IX Mini X+ systems.
I have doubts about best practises to setup the system especially considering application install location (sorry i am quite new in this kind of project...)
I understand the OS (TrueNas) will be installed on the onboard NVMe drive.
But where should applications be installed ?
- on the NVMe itself ? enough space ? What about backup in case of crash?
- on SSD drives using the 2 hotswaps bays ?
- on a dedicated volume in the HDD drives ?
In general, do you recommend installing applications on SSDs ?

Regards,
Eric

  UNAS Pro+
Posted by: Enquiries - 12-23-2024, 03:00 PM - Forum: Before you buy Q&A - Replies (1)

I didn't know if you wanted to know this. I have a UNAS Pro and a Synology DS920+ both have IronWolf Drive rated at 7200 RPM. The UNAS Pro is hooked up to a 10 GB Network and the DS920+ over 1 GB Network with link aggregation.

Now I have a Folder with a bunch of small Random Files, this folder is 3.79 GB in size. The DS920 will transfer it in 2 minutes and 30 seconds with Cache on, & 3 minutes without cache. The UNAS Pro will take over 10 minutes to transfer these files.

I assumed something was wrong with my 10 GB network, Nope it will transfer 4.79 GB in under 10 seconds, and ds920 takes 42 seconds.

I guess UNAS Pro doesn't like a bunch of small files being transferred. All this testing was done over SMB. The Ds920 is faster with NFS like a 1 minute 30 seconds.

  5g let business router
Posted by: Enquiries - 12-23-2024, 06:35 AM - Forum: Before you buy Q&A - Replies (1)

Hello I am making enquiries into what I would need to purchase a business router run on an LTE system which would be ideal for not only standalone in a workshop environment here in the UK. I also would need it for travel purposes into sub tropical climates. to include African and Asian climates. and robust enough for a digital nomad lifestyle.

Any help would be much appreciated I can get remote access to TOS6 but not Jellyfin do I need a ddns service etc, what would be the server address an a example can help please, or a guide.
Thank you.

Should I upgrade RAM and Drives on DS218j Diskstation
Posted by: Enquiries - 12-23-2024, 04:35 AM - Forum: Before you buy Q&A - Replies (1)

Thanks for all the info you provide! I am wondering if it worthwhile upgrading my NAS RAM to whatever the maximum is? Probably un-soldering/soldering RAM will discourage me from attempting with my DS218J model. If I can do that, how large can the hard drives be if I choose to replace them? I am running out of space fast. Thanks in advance for any help you provide!

I am about to replace a Synology DS220+  with an asustor AS5402. The Synology system runs two Seagate Ironwolf 6 TB HDDs in a RAID 0 array. I shall be increasing the storage on my new nas to 16TB using two Samsung 870 QVO 8 TB SATA 2.5 Inch Internal Solid State Drives. Can you please let me know the best way to migrate data from my old nas to my new nas. thank you
