We are looking for backup solutions for our Small Business. The majority of our backups are PDF files. We have Fiber Optic Internet with upload Speeds of 3 Gbps. We would also like the option of backing the NAS Data to Cloud backup; we have a 10 Gbps Switch where the NAS will be located. Any help would be appreciated

Hi !
Over the years, I have collected, received, and owned hard drives of different capacities. However, I still want to use them. In my mind, I think of a NAS. But is it the right solution? I already know that raid is not possible but is there another option?
Thank you in advance for your answer.
Kind regards
George

Hi
Thank you for the very informative videos!
Could you please advise whether it makes sense to switch to QuTS Hero in my case? I have a TS-464 with 8GB of RAM, which I can upgrade to 16GB if needed. However, as I understand, ZFS is quite resource-intensive, and I'm not sure if even 16GB would be sufficient, especially considering the CPU's modest performance.
I only purchased this NAS yesterday, so I don't have much experience with it or ZFS. My primary use cases include:
Storing files that won't be accessed frequently
Media streaming
Cloud storage for up to two users
Do you think the hardware will be sufficient for these tasks, especially with encryption (full disk encryption), ZFS, and streaming in mind? I’d like to take advantage of ZFS features such as deduplication, integrity checking, and archiving, but I definitely wouldn’t want my NAS to struggle with its primary tasks because of these features.
Thank you in advance for your advice!
Best regards,
Pas

I have been looking at the ugreen dxp400+ but I recently upgraded my pc and have a 12700k, 2x2tb nvme ssd (evo 980) and a 750w psu. I thought to use these parts for the nas (even though probably overkill). I want the nas for running a plex server (4k at 120hz TV), sharing large video files for an editing team offsite (though not editing off the nas) and replacing cloud storage for myself and my partner. Any suggestions of issues I may run into and motherboard/enclosure would be really helpful. Or if I should just sell the chip and go for the ugreen. Last issue is around the connections. It doesn't seeem to make sense for less than a 10gb Ethernet or thurnderbolt 4 if I run a system on an ssd with hdd back up right?

I have been running a Plex server for years but with my libraries becoming mostly 4k now I wanted to upgrade my storage. I like have a PC for the server with a video card doing the transcoding. But I want to optimize my storage as much as possible. Currently I just have 4-5 random 8-12TB drives in the PC. I have 1-2 internal users and 2-3 remote users simultaneously streaming for much of the day.
With $500-800, what would you recommend for improvements?

Hello.
on 2022 I asked you for advice regarding buying a NAS. I went for the Synology 720+. I upgraded to 18 GB of RAM and had 2x8 TB WD drives.
I opened a small business now, and we film podcasts, our workflow is with Blackmagick atem mini extreme and Hyperdeck HD. I now have some shared folders my team uses, but I need storage for video footage where my team can download them immediately, and upload clips & shorts to a different folder we use. And it would be perfect to record directly on NAS.
I am thinking about 2 solutions:
1. Buy additional 5-bay storage for my 720+, move it to the office and add additional users to some of the shared folders2. To go with 4-bay nas just for the office and not to mix those 2 things (private and business)
Financially, as I can see, the DX517 enclosure costs a similar price as the DS423+ NAS. As this business NAS is only for storing and sharing the footage (I don't need features like photos or similar), what would you recommend me to do?I am no

Hey guys, I only just discovered your channel about a month ago and I love it. I have a question about QTS Hero storage pools and the add raid set to existing raid feature. MY TVS-h1688X currently has six 22TB Ironwolf Pro drives (Storage Pool 1, RAID 5, ZFS), later today I am adding six Seagate Exos 28TB drives (Storage Pool 2). Will I lose data if I create a new pool for the new drives, Raid 5, ZFS and combine that with the existing storage pool 1 RAID?
Thanks,
Jason
