If I was wanting to host a plex server for 20+ people to stream from, what specs would you recommend to accommodate that and to possibly expand from? Do you recommend only streaming 1080p if the goal is to maximize the amount of people streaming from my server? I realize that will be expensive, but just want to see what you think it would take. Can you recommend a couple pre built NAS you would recommend for this goal? Would you suggest buying a cheaper NAS and upgrading certain parts, or spending more money on a NAS that already has the necessary parts. What is your preferred operating system for beginners and non beginners? ?

Hi I love your down to earth videos you explain things in am easy to understand way.
I built a small nas from various Fujitsu Esprimo parts and installed Openmediavault 7 as the OS. I use two 2TB WD blue ssd in raid 1, I built this as a 'Lets see if I can', my question is iOS their a app/program that would back up google drive to my Openmediavault nas? Or would I have to copy files/folders across by hand so to speak?
Many thanks

synology DS923+ what caching should I chose? |

Hello. I plan to buy a Synology DS923+ I will install in it 2 mechanical 3TB hdd from another custom built NAS. This is my first time using a out of the box solution like synology.
My question is, what caching should I use? Read only or Write also? And what caching media should I use? NVMe or regular sata SSDs?
It will be used:
- mostly for business work. I plan to work directly on the NAS, not just for storage and backup. Mostlye web development work, this would mean accessing the files a lot. I will not run services on it.
- a home assistant installation
- a plex media server for streaming locally, so no enncoding needed.
- maybe some docker containers that will run some websites or software
What do you think? Is the DS923+ a good solution or should I have gone with the QNAP TS-464. From what I understand the software on the synology would be more user friendly and better.
Thank you.

I have a WD EX2 Ultra and a QNAP TS-251+. I have been considering switching from the WD to QNAP but am determining if simplicity of the WD is the direction that makes sense. I just would like to know what your thoughts are because I am not sure if the QNAP is too much for my needs.

Tiny quiet NAS |

I'm looking to build a NAS that is tiny and quiet and stores mostly video files that can be access by an off-site plex server. I've got server I pay for overseas that runs the plex server itself, it's extremely fast but has limited storage. There are two users of the server in different Australian states, and I want to add a local storage with much more space that both users can access. I want to be able to use something like Filezilla to access both the server and the NAS and move files between them.
I saw the CWWK x86 P5 NVMe NAS review and I'm wondering if that might do the job but the read and write speed has me worried.

Hello,
I have been following your youtube and went here from one of your links.
I am having trouble choosing components for my home network. Currently i have 1GB speed delivered to my modem and need completely new setup after that. House is 171 m2 in 2 storage brick house.
I have come to know that i want a 10GBE 16 Port switch to connect all my tv, computers and wifi accespoints to. Unmanaged switch is probably the best?. I will need some wifi accespoints - im thinking 3 should cover the area but I dont know witch to choose.
I have been looking at theese wifi 6 accespoints but maybe you know something better? (https://www.maxgaming.dk/dk/wi-fi-forstarkere/m32-eagle-pro-ai-ax3200-mesh-system-3-pack)
I will connect everything with Cat7 cables.
I will end by saying THANK YOU for offering help through your website, i truly means alot to have help.
Sincerely
Thomas Vorup Rasmussen

We use google drive and store photos/videos/movies there. Want a backup solution that will still allow others to view our content and not take up space in G-Drive. We record sports videos and share with parents so don't want to lost that ability if possible.
