DS1515+ Dead |

Hi Guys - I hope this message finds you all well. My original DS1515+ has officially died. I tried to change the PSU and nothing changed. I'm little off on what my options are but if I found a DS1522+ would that be an option to transfer into? I have a solid back up and also a DS920+ that I'm using as my primary but really would like to replace the 1515+ and just curious what options I have since I know I was limited on the recent version of DSM on this one and with all the new processors out if I'm going to have issues? I appreciate your time and any advice you can give.
Thanks,
Rob

Hi I've recently bought a DS923+ and am getting into a bit of a Mucking Fuddle.
I'm having problems with Quick connect, Synology Drive and other bits like logging on from Synology drive.
I feel like I started poorly and have struggled ever since!!!
I see you do a zoom call, can you do a call where you are able to see my setting and thus sort my system out??
Failing that ill have to try the Zoom call
Thx

please could you help me i am trying to get rid of my internet monthly provider i am told i could do this buy burying a sim free modem router,
I am 83 yrs old not to tech -minded my idea is also to mirror my laptop to my tv to download films and documentries my present router is very slow and keeps buffetting.
i looked at some of your reviews on the router brands d-ilink 5g and like the idea that they are small and portable i have a landline phone linked with my provider i am told that they will be faced out and voip phone over internet will be the new norm .
i would be gratful if you could recommend a reliable and up to date router that you can recommend with my budget.
Kind Regards
Peter

The choice between ds423+ and ds923+ |

photo storage for my family 7 adults
backups of files from computers,syncing
Home assistant in VM or docker
audiobooks and movies storage - It would be nice to be able to watch movies with seperate file subtitles from my NAS on my Phillips TV with Android TV, or maybe tablet/laptop during the trip. But I mostly watch Netflix or HBO. I read about plex, but never used it
I don't have a big library of video files, but has a few classics like Lord of the rings in 4k etc... and a vacation videos.
I read about transcoding, but don't know If I need it when I cast mostly to android TV.
I know the biggest difference between those two devices is RAM (more possibilities in 923+ also better CPU) and integrated GPU (in 423+) . I don't care about higher LAN speed possibilities in 923+ and adding extra hdd bays.
I must say that I more into the 423+ now,it feels more for home use and I would buy it, but.. the price difference is less than 50$ if I add ram to 423+. So I'm puzzled.

Dear Mr.Andrews. Thank you very much for your response. i will proceed with the purchase of the following items:
1-TVS-h874T-i7
2-8X16TB IronWolf
3-Crucial 2TB P5 Plus * 2
4-QM2-2P410G2T
5-QSW-M3216R-8S8T
is it possible to have a formal advise from you for the installation once its done, and how much it will cost?
please we are in a tight schedule , you advise changing or adding some staff?
by the way, would i be able to still use the thunderbolt at full speed (1400) or there is no need to use it?
Thank you in advance for your kind cooperation.

How would you compare the “TS-664 with embedded graphics” and the “TS-673A with a good graphics card” for Plex and general PC backup. What advantages does either have over the other.
Thank you
Gary Bluhm

I have almost filled up my Seagate IronWolf 18TB drive in my Asustor AS5304T. Today I got a notification the drive is 95% full. I only store video files on it for Plex and it is not used as the OS drive. My question is, does filling up a NAS or Enterprise grade HDD beyond 90 or 95% over stress them and cause premature failure? I dont run a RAID since I feel that level of complexity is not needed for a simple Plex Media server. Googling this type of question gets a lot of unrelated results for replacing or detecting a failing drive. Do you have any videos related to usage of the total available capacity and failure or performance loss.

Good day!
I'm setting up a server that will primarily run plex. I've got a beelink eq12 pro, and will use a TerraMaster D4-300. The setup will be in my living room so I am trying to minimize the sound, and therefore am trying to figure out what the best hard drive would be to suit this purpose. Some research says that the WD Ultrastar fits this purpose. The storage capacity can be compromised on to ensure silence if needed. I am in the Netherlands. Thanks in advance!
