AD Domain Cotroller move |

Hello!
Is there any way to move domain controller from QNAP Nas to synology NAS?
Right now QNAP NAS is a domain controler. I need to make the SYNOLOGY NAS the domain controller for this domain, and unplug the QNAP NAS from the domain.
Every automatic/semiautomatic way of doing this is acceptible, even using windows server as the tool to achieve this. But, is it anyhow possible to do this?
Couldn't find any info about this, and I think it might be crucial for many. The point is not to loose the domain setup.
Thank you for any info.
Cheers,
Jan.

Drobo 801n issues |

My 810n is misbehaving. I keep loosing the connection from 2 different Macs. It’s a backup, but some of my Data is only on the 810n, but not a lot. I am slowly copying this off the server. Any idea why I loose the connection?
Thinking I might swap to a Synology DS1821 and re-suse the 8 drives in it.
Thanks

I have a DS920+ and im looking to get a new nas with more ports and some new drives to expand the size of it. Plex have stopped working for some reason so took it as a sign that it's time. I am a bit nervous that getting a synology again will result in me having the same issue as i had recently but im not sure.

Good afternoon
I am looking for a replacement of my DS220+ from synology. I do have business some of my contractor are overseas so I will need a reliable way for them to access their files on the cloud. I am looking for a 6-bay device.
I had some issues with Synology and tech support is not the best, everything I need to go to the blog. The real-person tech support is minimal.
I would like to have good tech support as I am not an expert but I can set thing up if guided correctly.
thank you for your great videos and one of them is what I want to expand. I liked the idea of baying 6 bays and only using 4 and leaving the other two for expansion, I think that is very smart!!
Thank you
Pablo

I'm running out of space on my DS1821+ so I'd like to upgrade to largest Enterprise drives currently available, probably not all at once
I saw your post pushing-boundaries-seagates-exos-x24-with-a-whopping-24tb-capacity but can't find any evidence they work with Synology
Synolgy's compatibility list max's out at 16TB for Seagate there own HAT at 18TB (These are like 4 times the price of Exos X24 24TB)
Will these drives work?
Is there any reason why these newer larger Hard drives won't work?
I'm aware each volume l has a 108TB limit but you can more than 1 volume within a storage pool
Thanx

Hello
I am currently looking for a more powerfull and capable nas unit to replace my older QNAP TS-431K.
Our current setup involves 17 users who are coppying files and folders to and from the server over gigabit ethernet (running through 10Gbe fibre to the main switch with the nas connected to it, using that switch's gigabit ports) on an hourly basis. These files are on the small side (10-40MB), with the largest files that will ever need to be coppied being around 8GB. I also run two seperate partitions, one for the office documents and files and a second for employee data and other backend business stuff.
Would the synology DS-1522+ or the DS-1821+ be a better sollution. The ssd caching abilities on both of these are very appealing. Can I run a 2TB/4TB nvme cache for each individual partition and would a read/write cache be better for accessing the most recent files quickly or should I use those for BTRFs indexing instead? Would you recommend a different nas?

I had a NAS system built in early 2023 specifically to stream movies over a home network. I purchased the individual components, but the unit itself was put together by a computer store. I discovered recently from viewing a couple of your YouTube videos that the drive does not have a processor necessary for playing larger files, such as 4K. I need advice as to what I should do now to upgrade the unit. Should I purchase another one with a built-in processor? Should I purchase a dedicated PC to stream files from the NAS? I am a novice, so I apologize if my questions don't make sense. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Hi Guys,
I have not had a NAS for several years and now am in the need to set one up. I am very interested in the Ugreen 4 bay pro unit. I plan to have one at home and one at my studio (music and photo). I plan on backing up the home files onsite and then onto the NAS at my studio. Similarly, I want to back up the studio data onsite and then to the home NAS. Does this sound like a good (3,,2,1) backup strategy? Secondly, should I move up to 6 bay units to run RAID 6?

I no longer use my PC and I am contemplating building a NAS using Sata SSD drives.
In my pc that I no longer use I have a AMD Ryzen 7 3700X and was wondering if it is worth repurposing the CPU or selling it to buy a different one?
I will be using it for Media back up , phone, laptop etc. But I also want to be able to store 4k movies on it and stream it to my TV using Jellyfin/Plex.
Cheers
