  Asustor Warranty

I am in the market for a NAS and I like some of the Asustor offerings. However, I have been reading complaints about the warranty service with Asus. Have any of those warranty issues carried over into the Asustor offerings?

Posted by: Enquiries - 05-12-2024, 09:35 AM - Forum: Before you buy Q&A - Replies (1)

Hi there.

Right now i'm sharing files (Photos) via cloud based services via link but i'm thinking of buying a used NAS and a friend have a QNAP TS-559 Pro II or TS-431P but i'm totally confused which one to buy. I just need the best solution to share files easy but of course with the best hardware possible. What would be the best of these to buy. Thanks a lot for a quick replay.

All the best.

BTW great site

  internet connection
Posted by: Enquiries - 05-12-2024, 09:00 AM - Forum: Before you buy Q&A - Replies (1)

Hi, I'm using my mobile data as a backup internet connection. I read somewhere that I can connect my phone to a usb c to ethernet adapter and use that as my NAS' internet access. I connected my phone to my router and It worked and I saw that it was connected, but for the life of me, don't remember how I saw that. I've been looking through control panel/network but still can't find it. I just need to see if it connected or not to know it's working. Can you please help? My NAS is a DSM1821+ on 7.2.1

I'm looking for a Nas. Im a music producer that needs to store loads of audio files, lncluding some video files for the music channel.

I would like some suggestions for 4 bay nas brand and also for DIY alternatives with the list of parts that I could aquire from amazon.

Many thanks,
Brian

I bought the UGREEN nas 4bay + system
Posted by: Enquiries - 05-11-2024, 01:35 PM - Forum: Before you buy Q&A - Replies (1)

I bought the UGREEN nas 4bay +. This will be my first time owning a nas I also heard from someone else that you can maximize the ram and usually as cash What type of M.2 SSD I should get . how big can I get? I seen a lot different reviews. Some go to one gig you can’t go to one gig going to go up to 512 you could even go higher should I get one stick and upgrade It later, or should I get two of the same stick?

I saw some of your videos and you guys saying the software is not that good yet I’m wondering if I should get (true nas )
I am also photographer so I’m planning to store my photos on it I’ve also seen one of your videos about ripping movies and I plan to do that as well. I’ve also seen some other videos and I may do that as well. I know this may be asking a lot, but could you send me the documentation on how to do the automatic ripping I seen some videos but I never use lyrics before I am going to need some help with the lines of Codes
Please help thank you

  Memory Size

Im looking to stream 4K video files on a NAS via plex locally. Does memory on the NAS device have any affect on streaming/streaming quality? (say having only 1GB of memory vs 2GB+)

  NAS and SSD Cache
Posted by: Enquiries - 05-10-2024, 04:35 PM - Forum: Before you buy Q&A - Replies (1)

I have a general question about NAS Caching. I am grabbing a Ugreen NAS when they release and know it has two NVME slots that allows for ssds to be used as cache. Is there a ratio of general storage to cache I should be aiming for? Does that ratio change with different raid configurations or use cases? Should I be aiming for as much as I can afford or is there a scenario where too much cache can be less optimal performance-wise?

Just curious on what that relationship looks like, I would imagine there's a sweet spot, between not enough, that requires more turnover in cache that makes it less effective, or too much that is less efficient since it requires more traversal of the cache is required per cache hit, but admittedly, that's sorta based on some speculation that comes from a likely incomplete understanding of how cache actually works, so sorry if this is a stupid question.

Any help or maybe links to existing article would be helpful!

  DLNA
Posted by: Enquiries - 05-10-2024, 07:00 AM - Forum: Before you buy Q&A - Replies (2)

Just trying to setup a QNAP TS-233 NAS as a media server, following videos you put on YouTube a couple of years ago. I don't see DLNA server under Applications in the QTS Control Panel. Has this been moved to somewhere else?
Also (might be related), I've got the QuMagie app running, and loaded a dozen photos, but the pictures don't appear on the screen - just 12 greyed out boxes.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
