  Synology E10M20-T1 + DS1819+?
Posted by: Enquiries - 02-28-2020, 03:37 PM - Forum: Before you buy Q&A - Replies (2)

Hi there, I saw this new promotion for the DS1819+ with the E10M20-T1, but no where I could find what the speed that this NAS box with this card can achieve using both NVMEs and the 10Gbe LAN on a 10Gbe network.

What's the speed you can expect using 8 disk drives + 2* NVMes for cache on a 10Gbe network?

Thank you

Synology DS1821+ NAS Review

  DS210j RAM upgrade possible?
Posted by: Enquiries - 02-28-2020, 03:37 PM - Forum: Before you buy Q&A - Replies (2)

Hi,
I would like to upgrade the RAM of my DS210j to give it a bit more power. At the moment it seems to freeze I am guessing due to a lack of RAM.
However, I am not sure if that is possible at all?

So do you know:
- Is it possible to perform a RAM upgrade at all?
- What do I need to check? e.g. Which which CPU would it be possible to do such a RAM upgrade?
- What RAM type would I need to buy?
- What else do I need to consider?

Many thanks for you help and kind regards

  Synology for mac users?
Posted by: Enquiries - 02-28-2020, 03:37 PM - Forum: Before you buy Q&A - Replies (2)

Love your channel. Thanks so much for the in depth reviews.

Need a private cloud solution to back up a family of iphones. I got a DS220J and seems to work, but the web interface is horribly slow for 'moments'. Would the 220+ be sufficient? We have 3 iphones need to back up and would like to access the images/vids on computer which is why a snappy web interface is a must. Must I go with the 720+ or higher ?

I'm a linux hobbyist and don't mind doing techie stuff, but have no time, so I'm leaning toward Synology since it seem to be the most straight forward based on the research I've done.

Which NAS is the right one for me?
Posted by: Enquiries - 02-28-2020, 03:37 PM - Forum: Before you buy Q&A - Replies (2)

Hi there,
I'm looking for a NAS or storage solution for me and m girlfriend for backup and storage of hobby fotographys.

At the moment we just want to use it for fotography storage and backup of data, some music and maybe a few movies. Later it should be possible to feed a beamer in a small house cinema maybe.

Can you help us out? We are quite new to NAS and are not sure what to buy. Synology I think is great cause of lots of good videos that explain what to do...
Over all we are looking for a good price to quality ratio. I am not sure if we really need a 920+ or even a 720+ but maybe you can help us out and give us some hints what is best for us Smile

Thanks a lot from germany

  TS-453D with 18TB HDDs?
Posted by: Enquiries - 02-28-2020, 03:37 PM - Forum: Before you buy Q&A - Replies (2)

Hi, thanks for your tremendously helpful videos on youtube. I am wondering if you can tell me how often Qnap increases the supported size of hard drives in their units and firmware. I know they have an approved list and there are no 18TB drives on that list currently. I am wondering if I should just keep these drives that I purchased and wait or if there is some reason that it will simply never happen with the TS-453D. It has been hard to find this information anywhere and Qnap won't commit to it NOT working, they just say it is untested and unsupported at this time.

Posted by: Enquiries - 02-28-2020, 03:37 PM - Forum: Before you buy Q&A - Replies (2)

Hi i enjoy your review of nas units. I am trying to build a home media server and as i do not have a lot of money i hope to build it over time. my question is . can i add more disks to the same volume or do i have to create a new volume every time i add a new disk. I was planning to start with 3 10 tb disks in a raid 6 and add more drives when i can afford . is this possible on the f5 221 terramaster. thank you for your assistance

Advice on what nas to buy?
Posted by: Enquiries - 02-28-2020, 03:37 PM - Forum: Before you buy Q&A - Replies (2)

Wondering which NAS to buy. I need it for private and small business. I use a lot of apple products and want to back up pictures from all of them. This is really important. Also use som windows products for business. Here its crucial with security. Want if possible to be able to have multiple backups if possible. Sizewise My iMac is 3 TB and then I have all these iPhones and stuff. And in addition my business pc, but its not that big yet. Im also concerned about noise. Want it as quiet as possible. Also want it to connect via Wifi. Speed as high as possible. What do you recommend

What do you recommend?

Im also wondering is It poosible to run windows on a NAS and let my kids play games from steam directly on a Samsung TV from the NAS?

Regards
Morten
