Terramaster D8 hybrid |

Hello, I have a quick question about the Terramaster D8 hybrid, I know slots 1/2 are used separately with their own raid function, but if set as separate disks could you control all the hard drives even SSDs in a software raid or does slots 1 and 2 specifically need to be separate from the other hard drives even in a software raid? Thanks.

Looking for advice, I have a UDM pro but I’m not using the camera section of it, I also have this synology DS 923+
I only need to add 1 cameras as my nvr is already full.
I want a 4k cam with color night vision. I saw a reolink is compatible with survalance station, or should I just go with the ubiquiti G5?
Or is there anything else better you would recommend

Synology NAS and iPhone backups |

Hi, I have a Synology DS920+ NAS and have been searching for how best to approach backing up iPhones to it, fairly unsuccessfully (getting the message that there is not enough room on my phone to backup to iCloud, and suggesting I pay Apple for more storage - a pain when there's loads of room on my Synology NAS....). The ideal use case would be to carry out the iPhone backup direct to the Synology NAS either via wifi or USB and bypass iCloud entirely.... realise that may not be possible else that would be the first thing that pops up in a google search.
Any advise greatly appreciated as to what is possible to automate....

So, essentially smart phone backup (address book, calendar) and offloading a sh!t load of pictures and videos that my wife produces in no time! Some sort of RAID and maybe if possible that takes different sizes of HDDs so I don't have to buy all of them at once to upgrade it. No plans for video streaming or gaming. Read-only mostly and 1-time writing - she doesn't want to part with ANY of her pictures. Don't know much about NAS, but would think 50/50 between drives and the rest in terms of cost.

Currently running a Lenovo Windows Server 2012 R2, with dual internal RAID boot drives, an internal 8TB SATA Storage Space with 3 drives for media/PC backups, and two external eSATA JBOD enclosures with 4 and 3 drives respectively in a 14TB Storage Pool for overall backup. Primary use case is for Plex/Sonarr/Radarr and the like, as well as multi-PC backup. 2012 R2 is EOL, and I'm trying to figure out how to update the platform to something supported and secure. Do not need Windows Server, it's just what I had and what worked back in the day (Essentials role). I've looked at TrueNAS, UnRAID, Docker, Jonsbo, UGreen, Synology, and I think I can convert the Storage Pools and install something on the server to get what I need, but I've been out of the game too long to know the best path forward. I used to be a UNIX systems admin back when it was still called that, and I've played with RPi, but Linux frustrates me compared to Windows. I would really appreciate your thoughts.

Error in your email |

I thought you might like to know that you often send emails with the "." missing in yout website address. If people don't realise to add this they will just get an error saying your website does not exist
With regards to NAS questions I wondered if you could tell me whether Synology allows me to download my emails from Yahoo, Google etc. and then serve them to all my devices from the NAS?
I would also like to have my devices send emails (or other) things to the NAS with errors etc.
I have no interest in sending emails out via the NAS. My only goal is to read them off the NAS for all my devices.
If so, which NAS would you suggest? Preferabbly 4-5 bays as I have 5 2TB disks already. I'm aware that Synology may update their NAS products soon.
Thanks,
David

Hello, I am dealing with situation about upgrade of my home storage, used both for home apps (media backup) and small business (NVR storage, business projects storage/sync). I dont need extraordinary power, I dont need overpriced rack NAS solutions although having couple of racks at home. I started with Synology 12+ years ago, had 2 and 4 slots units, very soon upgraded to 8bay and stayed there till now. So it was 1812+ till 1821+. Now having 8x18TB Exos Raid6 in 1821+ and running out of space. I was considering another 1821+ but although fine model for me, it looks a bit obsolete these days. I wrote Synology at the beginning of this year about successor, but they simply dont care. Couple of weeks back I found 1825+ leakage so I am waiting patiently but nothing is happening, nobody knows anything. Also I hate Synology nonsense limit 108TB per volume - this obsolete limitation should have been lifted long time ago for higher models I think. Wait for 1825+ or try Ugreen 8bay? Thank you.
