Hello. I really enjoyed the video you made. Is there any compatibility problem when upgrading the hard drive to 16 TB? How many TBs do you think are the limit? I want to upgrade to 16TB. Of course, if possible. What do you think about this?
example]WD RED PRO NAS 16TB
I would like to upgrade to the maximum upgradeable capacity.
Thank you for reading my question.

I have a DS220j with 2-4TB drives in a RAID 1 now and I really do like it. Going for the home user with family photos and videos and wanted something with a little more HP and capabilities that will be required for the next 5 years. There will be a promo coming up where I can get the DS923+ for $480, same price as the DS423+ and I have the same question as the guy did below in your review of the DS923+ but was not answered. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nXrzIwe42xA
Synology DS923+ NAS Review - Hardware, DSM Apps, 10GbE, NVMe Storage Pools, Plex & EVERYTHING Else!
Thank you very much! -Terry

I want to use this server to share photos and videos with the family. The videos are not movies just videos taken from a camera. Android and IPhone. Should i look for a model that has video transcoding or will this server be enough for that purpose. Im concerned about the video sharing the family would probably like to view the video before deciding to download it.

Adobe Lightroom for cataloging, photoshop for processing. Presently, ReadyNAS 314, 4 x 4Tb RAID 5, 7.4Tb used 2.58 free. appx 5Tb for 65,000 images, rest is documents & 110,000 mp3. I add appx 10,000 images p.a. Processed files can reach 7Gb due to layers. My workflow, import RAW files using LR to 500Gb NVMe drive in date folders, do processing, then folders ( inc saved PS files) moved to NAS. Occasionally I reload a file from the NAS,a 7Gb file takes 6 minutes to load. I have Intel i9=13900K, and Z790 AORUS ELITE AX , (2.5Gbe lan connectivity). I have watched a dozen or so of the YT videos and found myself favouring the DS 1522+ 4 x 6Tb Ironwolf.
But: 1) should I add the network upgrade, cache memory & Synology ram, & would I benefit from their drives?

Help me find a NAS |

I need a new NAS, my Drobo is 10+ years old, and they went bankrupt, so no new updates, no support. Kinda worried about it crapping out on me soon, so I wanted to get a new one.
I mainly use it for media storage, and serving videos through Plex. But also just file storage in general.
That's really all I'll be using it for, but I need a lot of storage because I ripped all of my movies/TV shows from disc. Also a built-in torrent client of some sort would be a plus.
A way to add more NAS to it after the fact would be nice too. Like get them to pool together? I don't know how to word it.
I was looking at these as potential candidates. You can tell me what you think, or if there's better options available.
Asustor Lockerstor 10 AS6510T - 10 Bay
TERRAMASTER T9-450 9Bay NAS
QNAP TS-664-8G-US 6 Bay
Thanks for your help.

Hi,
I have a mini itx solution I built many years ago, the SSD OS drive is starting to go and I need to rebuild, so I am thinking of replacing with a NAS as primary its a network storage solution for home files backup, and media consumption device for Plex. I have WD NAS drives within the current solution I can re-use.
Intel Core i5-4670K " 3.40 GHz
16GB RAM
WDC WD40EFRX - 4TB
WDC WD40EFRX - 4TB
WDC WD80EFZX - 8TB
Using StableBit DrivePool under Windows 10 Pro
I am looking to find the best little QUIET NAS for my budget, re-use my HDD's for now and upgrade those over time.
Regards
Martin

Hello,
I am new to the world of NAS tecnology. I own a very small business where I currently have had a Seagate MyCloud 4TB drive based at my home that allows me to access it from my work shop at another location. After 6 years that drive is running out of data space (plenty of graphic files such as Photoshop .psd, .png, .jpg and some doucments). I have been looking into 2 or maybe 4 bay NAS by DW and Synology and leaning towards Synology DS723+ or maybe 423+. I believe I can add (2) 16TB Seagate IronWolf drives and configure Raid 1 so it automaticaly backs up the primary drive. Does this sound like the best solution or do you have other recomendations? Thanks in advance.

I am trying to set up Windows 11 Pro on my Synology DS1621+ using Virtual Machine Manager. I followed you video guide (and other similar videos) but I get an error message that "This machine can't run Windows 11".
I understand that Microsoft changed something in their final release from the version that you would have used in your video. Is there a way around this?

Which NAS |

I'm choosing a NAS to back up my MacBook Pro, iPhones, and Windows systems, along with running Plex for movies mainly on a Fire TV Cube and NVIDIA Shield. While I'm initially considering a 2-bay model, I'm open to a 4-bay for future expansion. I want the option for M.2 SSD caching, and I believe 2GB of RAM might be too limiting.
I was leaning towards the Synology DS423+, but the 6GB RAM maximum (even if the CPU could support more) is concerning. The DS923+ looks appealing, but its lack of integrated graphics worries me for smooth Plex performance, especially as I might want to stream 4K content too.
I saw a positive comparison between the DS923+ and the QNAP TS-464, liking the HDMI output. However, concerns about QNAP's security record make me hesitant. Can you help me make the best decision?" Maybe another device?
