I bought in May F4-424 Pro, initial setup with 2 WD Red Pro 16TB each, upgrade to TOS 6.0.229-00147, after 2 weeks install WD Black 770 1TB as HyperCache. This week bought other 2 WD Red Pro and from yesterday evening I'm trying to expand storage pool (TRAID BTFRS). It's a slow work I think... in the first 2 HDD I have about 5TB of data and 10TB free. When will be concluded the adding of HDD 3 and 4? Terramaster support is not satisfactory in their answers, they want initialise all...
I hope (as in manual) to add HDDs with Edit Storage pool. In this process I stopped file services, indexing media, disabled all apps installed, but have HyperCache in use, have to cancel HyperCache? Thanks for your help if you can

NAS Suggestions For Work |

Our GIS department deals with large image files as they build and create maps. The imagery files are obtained from a company that flies over our county and takes pictures of everything from different angles. As the imagery technology gets better the files the company delivers to us are getting bigger with the last flyover being over 4TB in size. With previous year's imagery, we have almost 6TBs of data.
The Terramaster F4-424 caught my eye after watching your review but I'm concerned about the OS security. The NAS would be internal only and not accessible from outside the network. If there is a better NAS for large image files and would be able to handle delivering their work projects I'd be open to any suggestion you can give me.
Thank you in advance. I love your content!!

Hello from France.
I want to replace my too old synology ds213+ to truenas scale to store applications for home, and make a media stack + play with kubernetes.
i looked your video after first advices at work or from friends about u-NAS boxes, and i see your video about jonsbo N5 which is huge but seems really good to install (a long time i didn't build a homemade computer).
Budget would be limited (not the best period currently), then i'm thinking about a good base, even if maybe "small" at beginning, but i could increase later. At least disks and RAM (other parts must be in the base package).
the main apps
- media : will try jellyfish over plex i think (then a graphic gpu needed for transcoding ?), plus would try the radaar/sonaar things (seems a good multi app project to install
- i would try to transfert my huge dvd collection too (start to be damaged)
- HomeAssistant
- Home applications (wiki, traeffik, certmanager, dnsguard, game support tools, dashboard,....)

Long time viewer and subscriber on youtube.
Loved your breakdowns of the Ugreen series as I was on the fence about Ugreen you convinced me that at least the hardware was worth it for the price.
I got in on the kickstarter and when it came time for fulfillment I was informed they would not ship FPO AE (military postal system) so i requested a refund.
I recieved a separate email from someone purporting to be from Ugreen requesting my Papyal details. This seems very scam like since I used my credit card on Kickstarter.
Do you have any points of contact at Ugree that could help since they have not responded to any of my emails.
This kickstarter campaign is seeming like a terrible idea for an established company and has soured me on the whole Ugreen line.

Hi!
I've been using your tutorial video for setting up Plex on UGREEN NAS, which is incredibly helpful—thank you! Could you please help me figure out how to navigate the PUID/PGID section on a Mac? I know I'll need to use Terminal, but I'm hitting a few walls. Thank you!

We need to add external storage to an old Win10P workstation with a free PCIe x4 slot. We have a good number of spare 3TB NAS HDDs and need to connect at least 4 of them to the PC. A NAS would be overkill and too costly. We can use hardware or software RAID, and Windoze Storage Spaces is a candidate. Because we're a public charity, we're flexible and cheap. Still, reliability is #1.

In 2020 I used the pandemic shutdown as an opportunity to digitize my CD/DVD collection. I purchased a QNAP, 2-Bay (can't remember the model number). I found it really difficult to set up (I'm not the most tech savvy), but once set up, it worked great. A year later my system was attacked and locked. I'm jumping back in to NAS and am gun-shy on QNAP. I have a good home theater system. I run plex through my Samsung TV which is connected to my AV receiver. I would love to hear what you recommend.

Hello, I watch your channel all the time when I have NAS questions, so I wanted to start off by saying thank you.
I'm currently running a Synology 1019+ mainly as a PLEX server. Its fully loaded with 5 x 16TB Ironwolf HDDs (It's frustrating that I lose 1.4 TB on each drive just to use them, but thats another topic)
Im at about 80% capacity and I want to upgrade the drives. Synology support says that while I "can" put 5 new 24tb Exos drives in the NAS, they can't verify its reliability and functionality.
Do you have any input or previous dealings with going over manufacture specified drive capacity?
I can always add a DX517 expansion, but would rather upgrade the drive first before expanding. (Unless you recommend differently)
I'd love to get a NAS that had a larger drive bay capacity, but none of the larger Syno's have the Celeron capable of Hardware Transcoding.
Any input you can provide is greatly appreciated, and thank you again for all your informative videos!!!
