Best NAS setup for our business |

Hi guys,
I'm looking for some advice. I'm researching the best NAS setup for our company, we're planning to implement this next year. We're currently using Google Drive and are editing directly from it and it has run its course. We are currently with 3 video editors that need to be able to work from the NAS at the same time (not the same files), and need to be able to access it from home. We're working with 4k 10bit footage, so I'm thinking 10gbe ports connected directly to the NAS. Is the best Multi-Video Editor NAS: QNAP TVS-h874T our way to go or is there a cheaper option for our use case? And in case I want maximum speed and a single backup, how much drives of x TB and in what kind of RAID setup would you recommend?
If you need any more info, don't hesitate to ask. Thank you so much!

Synology NAS & Mac & iSCSI initiator |

Hi there. I am following your guide for video editing on a NAS - An Idiot's guide. I am looking at how to connect to a Mac using an iSCSi initiator. your guide predominantly refers to connecting to a PC with some reference to Mac. I have downloaded the Kernsafe initiator and am in the process of setting it up. It has now asked me to identifty and connect to a target drive. In doing so it has indicated i need to Initialise the NAS "drive". I had set up a 1 TB target lun.
I am concerned how this will impact the NAS (1019+ - set up with just one volume across the 5 drives. synology hybrid raid) - ie if i format the drive for apple, how will this work ? will it work or will it adversely impact the NAS ? what format should I use ? Am I setting it up correctly at all ?
thanks Mike

Good morning! I'm looking to upgrade my potato NAS (based on a 2015 NUC with USB hard drive and network card connections). My use case is mostly Immich for family photos and videos, Jellyfin media streaming, and some light file movement with SMB/Nextcloud. My goal is snappy, avoiding CPU bottleneck for downloads and transcodes (usually 2/2 subtitle burn in or Immich videos), and some room for upgrades in the future. I've got the following build down to $600 on Amazon (own storage already) https://pcpartpicker.com/list/FgY4xH. Is this overkill? Is it weighted in the wrong places? And I know the limitations of the N4 from your videos, I just love the look and size. Thanks for any help!

I bought and built my own home NAS setup a few years back. It all seems to be working although I am not sure how I managed... (your videos helped!).
I now just wanted to add two NEW 12TB drives to my slots but wanted to ensure that I was doing it correctly for sure this time. I want to split 1 dual drive and use it solely for PLEX and the other solely for storage.
I wanted tobuy a session but I don't have the bread and I don't guess I need a full one hour Zoom session either. But I would like some eyes on my system somehow. I don't just have one question/problem. Just a bunch of little questions
Example: I never changed my HTTPS port because I'm scared like a little girl.
Just some Q&A would be good. Or how can I get you all of the information you need in order to look at my setup and tell me what I can do better or best? thanks,! Todd Kramer

Searching for DIY NAS Parts for Jonsbo N3 or N4. Need a IDLE Power cons. of 9-14W!
Engery in Germany is really expensive...
Thought about Topton N100? It needs to run sometimes max 2 VM (light weight linux distros often). But I need min. 2 Ethernetports and Docker for must also run on the hardware?
THANKS!
Greetings Marcel

We are Windows based institution and would like to invest in a NAS instead off adding additional storage in our current processing LAB PC/Servers.
We looking for a NAS to assist with remote/out of lab data forensic data acquisition and transfer, processing directly on NAS using Forensic Software - https://www.vound-software.com/pro
See Software Technical Guide - https://www.vound-software.com/resources/files/Intella%20Technical%20Guide.pdf
Our Budget include the Storage (4 x HDDs)

This article links toa Noctua at Amazon that is a 4pin fan, but images show 3 pins? Which is correct? Which is the best fan for the DS923+? And Noctua makes several in the correct size. What are the differences? Anything better than Noctua?
Thanks!
