Hi i am interested in installing Eufy cams for security, on the Eufy website is an instruction video how to connect the S380 with 2 Eufy cam to a Synology, in my case an 1821+, nas. But in the synology compatible list is eufy not shown. And read some comments that is does not work.
The link from Eufy how to install: https://support.eufy.com/s/article/Using-NAS-Storage-Step-by-Step#:~:text=The%20RTSP%20feature%20on%20eufyCam,will%20need%20you%20to%20discover.

Do you have any experians in this?

  Windows VM On Synology NAS
Posted by: Enquiries - 11-15-2023, 02:00 AM - Forum: Before you buy Q&A - Replies (1)

Hi,
Looking at buying a DS1821+ and upgrading the ram to 2 x 8gb and running a vm windows 10 or 11. also allocating 2 cores and 8gb ram on a SSD volume.

Can the 1821+ run the windows 10 or 11 in a business style office with about 6 staff?

Was looking at the DS1823xs but awesome video explaining the upgrade path would currently suit us.

Luving your videos. Many thanks again, Justin

  NAS Drives
Posted by: Enquiries - 11-14-2023, 10:30 AM - Forum: Before you buy Q&A - Replies (1)

Hi,

Hard drives are cheaper in USA, if I buy some from there, are there any issues with using these in the UK?

I have a relative going to USA this week, so was wondering if it is OK to buy them and they can bring it back here. Not sure about how they will be being transported in a suitcase.

Thanks,
Shailesh

  Qumagie
Posted by: Enquiries - 11-14-2023, 08:00 AM - Forum: Before you buy Q&A - Replies (1)

How can I use Qumagie securely on QUTS HERO? Is Qnap Cloud Link safe to use for Qumagie?

I tried using WireGuard VPN but for some reason when I turn it on the HDDs click every 3 seconds. The clicking stopped every time I stopped that application.

I want to create user accounts and give access to drive space and Qumagie on my NAS to family, I just don't know how to do it securely without making it overwhelmingly for them.

Please Help,

Sam.

How to mix between SSD and HDD on Synology ?
Posted by: Enquiries - 11-13-2023, 04:00 PM - Forum: Before you buy Q&A - Replies (1)

So my question is:
I have a synology DS220+ at home and i am quiet happy with it, when i looked at options to replace my HDD (8tb each) with SSD i found that its a hustle and my data is larger than 4tb (the SSDs options)…
so is it possible if i upgrade my synology to DS923+ and introduce 2 NMVE in the bottom lets say 2tb or 4 tb each, will this help me with the write to synology speed or fetching data (downloading) from it and make it dramatically faster?

Can you backup or snapshot Synology whole volumes ?
Posted by: David Morrow - 11-13-2023, 03:47 PM - Forum: Before you buy Q&A - Replies (1)

I have a Synology NAS as well as QNAP NAS. Recently, QNAP released an update of its Virtualization Station that cause wide spread havoc. ( The app became "disconnected" from its VM's and there was no way to "reconnect" them. It was if they had all gone up in smoke. In actuality, the VM files were still intact and right where they used to be.) I was included in that havoc but it has been fixed now. One QNAP owner posted on a forum that because he had a snapshot of his volume, he was able to restore his system to a prior state. When I look at my Synology snapshots, I only see the ability to take snapshots of shared folders and a couple of system folders. But no ability to take snapshots of apps and their related settings. So, is this not possible on Synology ? Is there a way to protect a Synology NAS from the issue that occurred with some of these QNAP's ?

  NAS
Posted by: Enquiries - 11-13-2023, 08:30 AM - Forum: Before you buy Q&A - Replies (1)

Hello,

I've been researching different types of NAS and there are a lot of terms I do not understand lol... I basically need a "cloud-like" storage to store photos, videos, and documents from multiple devices: iPhone, Android, MacBook, and Windows laptop. We want to be able to upload our phone wirelessly (via wifi/data using an app). I really don't know much about tech at all so any help would be greatly appreciated. So far on Reddit, I've been advised to get a Synology. If you do think that's the best for me, which model do you think is best for these purposes? We do want to be able to increase the storage, if need be, in the future when our son starts using it as well. We want this to last for as long as possible but also have great security where we won't lose our family memories. I am a teacher so I will be uploading lots of Word and PowerPoint documents, and my husband will be uploading AutoCAD and Excel documents for work.

  Additional test with LincStation N1
Posted by: Enquiries - 11-13-2023, 07:00 AM - Forum: Before you buy Q&A - Replies (1)

Hello folks,

you're videos on the LincStation N1 has really peaked my interest. Wasn't really aware of the product before seeing it on your channel.

Could you measure how much power the system used when idle and no drives are installed to establish a baseline for comparisons with other systems?

Also, did you try to use powertop to further optimize power consumption on the device? There's a nice guide over on the Unraid forums on how to do this:

https://forums.unraid.net/topic/98070-reduce-power-consumption-with-powertop/

With the rising energy costs and the need to protect the environment, having a system save as much energy as possible has becoming a growing concern of mine and would surely be of interest for other users as well.

Best
Thomas

Best Budget NAS for Family Streaming
Posted by: Enquiries - 11-12-2023, 10:00 PM - Forum: Before you buy Q&A - Replies (1)

I am trying to set up a NAS Media Server for my family with our old collection of DVDs. Since we all live further apart, I need something that can possibly handle the possibility of simultaneous connections and streams. We are all fine streaming as native resolution so transcoding is not a big deal. 1-2 bay budget options would be preferred.
