Nothing works better then Plex server with a dedicated GPU card. But if you want to save on your energy bills, ds923+ will be cheaper to run. It will stream anything in a local network.
Remote access will be limited to 1080p content though.
You can also lin ds 923+ and your existing Plex server as an additional source for the videos.
