Synology to Synology Remote Backups

#1
My relative lives in another state. We both recently purchased the DS1522+. We both want to be able to backup our NAS to each other. We've watch a ton of videos but still can't figure it out. Perhaps you could help us? We do not have the option to put both boxes on the same LAN, so we are starting from being remote.

You guys are the reason we bought these (first nas for both of us) during the most recent Amazon Prime days. $550 for 1522+. We thought it was a good buy. Both systems are identical with three 8TB drives to start, in a SHB raid. Two 1TB NvME, and 32 GB Ram.

Thanks in advance for your help! You are much appreciated for all your work!!!

First of all, congratulations on your new Synology DS1522+ NAS purchases! It's great to see how our community's resources have been helpful to you. For setting up remote backups between your two DS1522+ units, you're on the right track. To achieve this, you'll need to install the Backup Vault app on both NAS devices. Once that's done, you have a couple of options. You can either use the "Active Backup for Business" app, which is a robust solution for remote backup setups, or you can opt for the "Hyper Backup" app, which offers versatile backup capabilities. Both options allow you to securely set up and manage remote backups between your Synology NAS units, even when they are not on the same LAN. With identical setups, including three 8TB drives in SHR RAID, two 1TB NVMe drives, and 32GB of RAM, you've equipped yourselves with a powerful setup that will not only serve your current needs but also potentially handle more demanding tasks in the future.
