I've been unable to find an answer to this question (possibly I've read right past it numerous times). Do the SSDs installed in the M. 2 NVMe SSD SLOTS need to be the same size as the HDDs in the main bays of the NAS box?

Any insights are most appreciated.

No, the size of NVme will depend on your needs. This is a separate RAID / volume. People often choose 500-1TB SSD.
