Looking for a NAS specifically for file storage and need remote access

#1
Hi,

My wife is a photographer and needs lots of storage space so I'm looking to add a NAS. I'd like a 2-4-bay device. I don't care about running apps on the NAS. It would primarily be for file storage. I would map her a drive (Windows) to point to the NAS and let her store all the files she wants. I'd also use it to store my Plex library videos, but don't need it to run the Plex Server itself. If it can, fine, but it's not a requirement.

The main requirement is that it has to be accessible when she's not at home. This could be through some sort of client app or a VPN back to the home network or whatever. It just has to work.

I have a Unifi UDM SE running my home network so I would consider their UNAS if it's something I should look at. Otherwise I'm open to any brand that would make the most sense.

I'm leaning away from Synology due to their new Hardware requirements, but I would consider an older model if that would make the most sense.

Thanks!
