#1
Hi Sirs,

I have watched a number of your YouTube Videos and have purchased a Synology 914PLUS for my little construction company to share files between the office manager / me and the site agents.
I would like your help to setup this as im not an I.T. expert and will pay for your services.
We are only small company, but I want to do it right.

THANK YOU

Thanks for reaching out, and congratulations on purchasing the Synology 914PLUS for your business!

I’d be happy to help guide you through the setup. Since you mentioned you're not an IT expert, I can walk you through configuring your NAS for file sharing and ensuring it's secure and user-friendly.

Here’s a brief overview of the steps I’d recommend for setting it up:

1. Initial Setup:
Network Setup: First, we’ll need to connect your Synology NAS to your local network (via Ethernet) and access it through a web browser.
DSM Installation: We'll guide you through the DiskStation Manager (DSM) setup. This is the operating system for your NAS, and it’s easy to follow.
2. Create User Accounts:
Set up accounts for yourself, the office manager, and the site agents. This will allow you to control who can access specific folders or files.
Each user can have their own private storage space (if needed), or we can create shared folders for collaboration.
3. File Sharing:
I recommend setting up shared folders for your company’s files (documents, contracts, reports, etc.). These folders can be accessed easily by everyone in your team, with permissions for read/write access or read-only depending on their role.
We’ll also set up access to these folders from both Windows and Mac systems, if you have a mixed environment.
4. Remote Access:
If you need to access the files remotely (outside the office), I’ll show you how to enable QuickConnect or set up VPN access securely. This way, you can work on the go without compromising security.
5. Backups & Security:
We’ll set up automated backups of important files and ensure the NAS is secure by enabling features like two-factor authentication (2FA) for access.
We'll also look into disk encryption for extra data protection.
6. Collaboration Tools (Optional):
If you want more advanced features for team collaboration, Synology Office (similar to Google Docs) and Synology Drive could help your team work together seamlessly in real-time.
Once you’re ready to begin, feel free to reach out, and I can provide more specific details on each step, or we can work through the setup remotely if preferred.
