I've watched your videos. I know you like complicated. We need to walk down two paths at once. I'm 67. I'm an amateur photographer with several hundred thousand raw files. They're scattered not only across different portable hard drives but also across both PC and Mac. My photography has suffered these past years because I've lost the ability to manage my files. Second path. I've owned a dry cleaning company for 50 years. While I was researching NAS I realized that surveillance was possible. I'm looking to accomplish two tasks. Backup my photos and other work plus build a surveillance Network for my 9,000 square ft production facility with 15 cameras. What would you recommend to me? I was all settled on a Synology solution but a direct inquiry with them left me cold. They were talking about an NVR piece of the puzzle that confused me. Dva 1622 really? I don't seem to understand the pathway from the camera to the Nas? KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK. THANKS. Mark

1. Backing Up and Managing Your Photos
The Synology ecosystem is excellent for photography. A DVA1622 would work well for your photo backup needs alongside its surveillance capabilities. You can connect your portable hard drives to the NAS, consolidate your files, and access them directly from tools like Lightroom or Photoshop. Synology Photos is also great for organizing and searching through your extensive library.
2. Surveillance Network for Your Facility
The DVA1622 is actually a fantastic choice for your surveillance setup. It combines NVR functionality with AI-powered video analysis, allowing you to monitor and manage up to 16 cameras efficiently. It eliminates the need for separate NVR devices by serving as both storage and a management hub.
The pathway is straightforward:
Connect your IP cameras to your network (wired or wireless).
Use the DVA1622 to manage, store, and analyze footage via Synology Surveillance Station.
Monitor everything in real-time through the app or web interface.
This setup provides the simplicity and power you’re looking for in managing your facility’s security.
