Thank you for reaching out. I understand you’re looking to synchronize your iMac with your QNAP TS-453D to organize, view, and edit your photos using Lightroom/Photoshop while consolidating images from your external drives. Here's a step-by-step plan to get you started:

1. Ensure the QNAP TS-453D is Properly Set Up
Make sure your QNAP is powered on and connected to your home network.
Log in to the QNAP web interface by entering its IP address in your browser.
2. Organizing and Synchronizing Your Photos
Create Shared Folders on the NAS:
Use the File Station app on the QNAP to create folders like Photos, Projects, or Backups for easier organization.
Install QNAP’s Qsync App:
Download the Qsync app for macOS from QNAP's website. It will allow you to sync folders between your iMac and the NAS.
Transfer Files from External Drives:
The easiest and fastest method is to connect your external drives directly to the QNAP via USB and use the File Station app to transfer your photos.
Alternatively, you can connect the drives to your iMac and copy files to the NAS via Finder if the drives are not compatible with QNAP directly.
3. Working with Lightroom and Photoshop
Once your photos are on the NAS, you can map the shared folder to your iMac as a network drive.
On macOS, go to Finder > Go > Connect to Server. Enter the NAS's network address (e.g., smb://[NAS_IP]/Photos).
Import your photos from the NAS into Lightroom or Photoshop. You can work on them directly from the NAS or set up a local editing folder synced via Qsync for faster performance.
4. File Organization Tips
Organize by date, project, or category, whichever makes sense for your workflow.
Consider using QNAP's QuMagie app for AI-powered photo tagging and organization, especially for personal projects.
