First home NAS

#1
Currently 90% Apple (Mac,iPhone, ipads iOS) 10% windows. Heavily rely on photos and integration with iCloud. But mostly want to move away from iCloud/google drive/one-drive/drop box (maxed on almost all free & paying more for iCloud now). Considering 2 vs 4-bay and Synology (223 v 923+) vs QNAP 264 & 464. Don't do streaming/plex, mostly just remote/accessible file storage. And for 3-2-1, considering a two solution purchase for offsite assist? I already picked up 2 8TB SATA drives on blackfriday (seagate). And can i mix/match systems in future? Tx!

Hey! Going for your first home NAS, nice choice! Considering your Apple-heavy setup, both Synology and QNAP are solid options. If streaming isn't a priority, the Synology DS223 or DS923+ are great choices, or check out QNAP's TS-264 or TS-464.

For your file storage needs, a 2 or 4-bay NAS should work fine, and given your 3-2-1 backup plan, grabbing two different solutions for offsite is a smart move. Mixing and matching systems in the future? Yep, totally doable!
