Hello,

Looking for the fastest NAS to look through very large photography libraries in Lightroom with very large files. I currently have a DS1815+ and looking to upgrade. Have a 2.5GB switch as well.

If a majority of the files are large in size, you will indeed benefit from 2.5GbE or even 10GbE connection. Having NVMe for caching or storage would also help.
Maybe consider ds923+/ ds1522+. The fastest NAS are Xeon based XS series models.
