Mac connecting to DS1522+ via IPv6

#1
Hello NAS Compares form!

I have noticed in “Resource Monitor” in the Connections section that our home Mac desktop is connecting to the NAS using IPv6.

Is this a security concern? Does that mean that all the data going to and from my Mac to the NAS are also going through the Internet via IPv6? Our home network does not assign IPv6 addresses.

I am using an Automounter program to mount the SMB share automatically. I wonder if that’s the culprit?

Thanks for any feedback.

Best regards,

Mark

It could be. It depends o your router. With older routers you will get IPV4 connection

I hope this helps.

Hello Ed!

Thank you for your reply! I have a newer router at home as we are using Plumes. They are WiFi 6, but not the newer 6e as we do not have any devices at home with 6e.

Even our routers have IPv6 addresses assigned to them so I guess it is all OK in that way.

Thanks again and glad to be a part of the forum!
