DAS advice?

As a solo content creator I'm looking to buy a DAS solution. I have a very old Drobo that is super slow and problematic. Is Drobo better now and reliable? I am looking for speed. Is it a good idea to fill it up with SSDs or is there nothing to be gained for SSDs?. I have 2 uses for this. 1. I will have 4 TB of data that will be long term storage. But I will have about 2-4 TB that I am constantly accessing and working from. Please advise. Thanks!

Drobo has not improved a thing since the beginning. SSD would definitely speed up things. But if you need something cheaper and yet fast, have a look at Areca. Otherwise Lacie Big series and Pegasus will be the best choice.I hope this helps.
