4 bay Nas setup (Raid 1 or 5)?

Good Day and Great Vids
My question is i want to setup a NAS soon. They can be pricey so i wanted to get the QNAP TS-453D. And wanted to start of with one hdd (seagate). Does that have to be setup on raid1. Can i then add 1 (2 more hdd) in the future and update to raid5.
