NAS HDD purchase?

#1
Hi! I am looking to buy 3 drives for RAID 5 setup. I am close to ironwolf series besides WD red NAS cause I've concerns about SMR WD drives. As far as I know Ironwolf series is CMR drives. I have an old PC and windows 2019 Server installed on. What HDD do you suggest for the setup?

Server setup Intel 4970K, 32GB RAM, 512GB Samsung 560 pro SSD .
Do you think is better a separate RAID controller than motherboard's ? Asrock H97 M killer fatal1ity

Thank YOu

Yes, WD still needs to make things right on their SMR drives. Only their PRO series is something we can trust. In meantime, Seagate Ironwolf NAS series are still CMR and good for RAID.Having a dedicated RAID card would speed up server since the CPU doesn't need to calculate parity.I hope this helps.
