What is the best way to share work with clients? For stills, should I create a web edit in Photoshop and host the HTML on my NAS? If so, I'm green and unsure of how best to do this.

Thanks for your question! There are a few effective ways to share your photo and video work with clients using your NAS, depending on your goals and the type of experience you want to offer.
For Still Photos: Creating a web gallery (or web edit) in Photoshop is a great start. You can indeed host the resulting HTML files on your NAS if it supports web hosting. If you're new to this, here’s a simple outline: Create the web gallery in Photoshop (File > Automate > Web Photo Gallery). Transfer the gallery folder (which includes HTML, CSS, and images) to your NAS’s web directory (often something like /web). Enable Web Station (if using Synology) and configure the directory to serve the site. Share the NAS's external or QuickConnect address with your client so they can view the gallery online. This option gives you full control over branding and presentation, but it does take a little setup. Simpler Alternatives: If you'd prefer an easier route, especially if you're green to web hosting: Use Synology Photos or QNAP Photo Station to create shared albums with password protection. Create a share link directly to a folder on your NAS (great for film or stills), and send it via email. These can be time-limited and password-protected too. For Films: Upload your video to a client folder on the NAS. Use a share link (with optional preview in the browser, depending on the file format and client support). Or, if using Plex or Jellyfin, you can grant temporary access to a folder or library for streaming, which can be a polished experience. |
