NAS Recomendation

#1
Hello,

I am planning to buy a NAS but I have no idea at all, even if I have been watching your videos and reading about it for the last month.

I am a photographer and videographer and I would like to have redundancy with my storage and have the opportunity to share the photos and videos with my clients directly from the NAS in a secure way, so they can download them. I am thinking of sharing the NAS with some friends who will have X amount of storage to use as a cloud while I don't need it as well.

The thing is, that as I have no clue about the software of a NAS or how to correctly and securely configure what I need, what brand would you recommend me to purchase?

I don't think I need a 10Gbps NAS, it would be good, but I have no problem editing from my computers SSD and backing everything up in the NAS.

Sorry but English is not my first language, I really hope I explained what I am looking for.

Thank you beforehand,
Ales.

Based on your requirements, I would recommend the Synology DS923+. This model is a great choice for photographers and videographers like yourself because it offers easy setup and management through Synology's DSM software, which is user-friendly. It supports RAID configurations for redundancy, ensuring your data is safe. The DS923+ also has room for future upgrades, with an additional slot for an expansion unit if you need more storage down the line.

Additionally, the DS923+ offers excellent file-sharing options, including secure sharing with clients. You can set up private links for clients to download files directly, which is ideal for your business. The 4 bays will allow you to start with your 12TB drives and expand as needed.

It’s a solid choice now and in the future, especially if you decide to grow your storage or improve your network speeds.
