DS423+ vs TS-433

#1
Over here in Cambodia we don't have a choice of the full range of products from both QNAP and Synology.

The 2 4 bay units available here are the DS422+ and TS-433 both at $550.

I mainly will use the unti for archival storage of raw files.

Which is the better option?

Thanks

Given your scenario of limited availability between the Synology DS423+ and the QNAP TS-433 in Cambodia for archival storage of raw files, both priced at $550, considering future-proofing, the DS423+ might be the better option. While both units are 4-bay NAS solutions, the DS423+ features a quad-core Intel Celeron J4125 CPU with a higher PassMark score of 2982 compared to the TS-433's AL-324 CPU. This could potentially provide better performance for handling large files and multitasking, ensuring smoother operation over time. Additionally, Synology's DiskStation Manager (DSM) offers a user-friendly interface with robust features for data management and backup, which could be beneficial for your archival needs. Though the TS-433 is a reliable option, the DS423+ offers slightly more horsepower for your current and future storage demands.
