NAS Systems

#1
Hi, I have a couple of Cloud storage services (OneDrive and IceDrve about 3TB in total), but I've been looking at either replacing them or have them run alongside a home NAS system. To be fair I don't need that much storage, but I guess my interest was sparked by the relatively low cost of a WD My Cloud EX2 Ultra with a pair of 4TB drives, so your article was a great help, but I didn't really come to a decision as to what to buy. I have looked at QNAP's new TS-216G which I'm not sure has been released yet because I can't find any prices or stockists yet but I've email QNAP for some further information. I guess my concern is the complexity of software, I'm a reasonably proficient PC/Laptop user, but I'm certainly not what you'd call an expert on hardware or software so I'm looking for a simple easy to use cloud storage NAS that I can access my files from any connected device in an easy and simple manner, a lot like my OneDrive which I think is excellent.

It seems like you're considering a NAS system to complement or replace your existing cloud storage services. The WD My Cloud EX2 Ultra is a popular choice, but exploring other options could be beneficial.

For simplicity and ease of use, you might want to look into the Synology DiskStation DS223 or DS224+. Both of these NAS systems are designed to offer intuitive interfaces and straightforward setup processes, making them ideal for users who prioritize simplicity.

The Synology DiskStation DS223 is known for its user-friendly DiskStation Manager (DSM) software, which simplifies file management and access across various devices. With its powerful yet easy-to-use features, the DS223 is suitable for beginners and experienced users alike.

On the other hand, the Synology DiskStation DS224+ offers even more robust performance and features, making it a versatile option for home users with higher demands. Its advanced hardware and DSM software ensure smooth operation and seamless file access from anywhere.

Both the DS223 and DS224+ are within your budget range and provide reliable performance for your home storage needs. Ultimately, your choice between the two will depend on your specific requirements and preferences.
