Ram upgrade for 718+

#1
Regarding Ram upgrade on 718+
No plex, no VM, just normal storage and SS CAMERAS. (13 so far)
Presently at 6GB RAM.

Will I see enough speed increase with a Ram upgrade to consider doing it?
Should I go from 6 to 10, or replace both and go to 16???

My useage is just normal file storage and surveillance cameras (set for 2930x1080/30 fps — due to USA location.

I found your thread on + series NAS where you provided links, but on 718+ link the mfg links did not come across.

Thanks

RAM upgrades are only recommended if you actually running low on available memory. Having more of it doing nothing will not help.
Replacing HDD to SSD where DSM live might improve performance more than RAM.
You need to understand where the bottleneck is. With that many cameras it's probably drives. Having two separate RAID would help with constant write operations.

I hope this helps.
