Noob NAS/DAS question?

#2
Having a NAS does not mean that you also need a faster Internet. Your local network which is called Ethernet is very likely 1Gbit fast. Everyone connecting to this NAS locally will get this 1Gbit (or WiFi <1GbE) speeds. Anyone connecting from outside this network (Internet) will be limited to your Broadband upload speed. You can connect directly your NAS to your computer via LAN. But if you want to simplify connection and increase the data transfer speeds up to 10Gbit then Qnap Thunderbolt NAS models such as x72XT would be useful. You can connect directly and still allow other people to connect via LAN connection.DAS solution such as Pegasus or Areca would be faster than NAS but there are no sharing capabilities. Also, the speed will be higher than you actually need for editing. You would expect somewhere around 400MB/s requirement for a single 4K editor.I hope this helps.
