Synology NAS Celeron J4125 or faster

#2
Hey! Yeah, the Ryzen V1780B would definitely outperform the J4125 for software-based Plex transcoding — it's got much higher clock speeds and handles heavier loads better, especially when you’re not relying on Quick Sync or any hardware acceleration.

The Xeon D-1531 or D-1541 would also be solid upgrades. Even though the base clock is lower, the extra cores and threads give them way more muscle for multitasking and multiple streams. If you’re running other services alongside Plex (like Docker, VMs, etc.), the Xeons will handle that way better.

Between the two, the V1780B might feel a bit more responsive for general Plex use, while the Xeons shine in more demanding, multi-user environments.

So yeah, either of those would be a smart move if you’re moving away from hardware transcoding.
