Replacing hard drives on a Synology DS1522+

Copy all data: Transfer all the data from the 8TB drive (Bay 2) to the new 12TB drive (Bay 4).
Delete the volume for the old drive: Once the data is safely copied over, go to Storage Manager and delete the volume for the 8TB drive.
Add the new drive: Place the 12TB drive into Bay 2, then create a new volume for it in Storage Manager.

Thanks a lot for your help. However, if I place the 12TB drive 2 into Bay 2 with all the data from the 8TB drive and create a new volume, will I keep the data or else Synology will ask me to erase all data on the drive in order to create a new volume?

Thanks
