M2 with it for PMS and nzb file downloads?

#2
If you’re using the DS920+ primarily for Plex and download management with Sonarr, Radarr, and SABnzbd/NZBGet, investing in M.2 NVMe SSDs for caching can improve efficiency, especially if you’re handling high-traffic media libraries or doing frequent, large downloads. However, since you’re on a 1Gbps connection, the cache may have limited impact on download speed itself—it’s more useful for reducing latency in accessing frequently used data.

If your media library is large and growing, you might see better overall performance from putting the budget toward larger capacity HDDs. With the additional RAM, you’re already setting up for improved multitasking performance, which should help with download processing. In short, if storage space is tight or expected to grow quickly, larger HDDs would likely be the better investment.
