update to TS-453Bmini

#2
Great to hear from you! Sorry to hear about the rattling on your TS-453Bmini. It’s not an uncommon issue in older models, particularly when the fan or drive trays start to wear out over time. Since you’ve already tried foam pads and weights, it might be worth checking if the fan needs replacing or if the trays are securely seated. But after 7 years, I completely understand if you're ready for an upgrade.

For your next NAS, I’d recommend looking into the QNAP TS-464. It’s part of their newer series, offering better performance for both backups and Plex, while being more future-proof. If you're looking for a bit more storage flexibility, the TS-664 could also be a good option with its 6-bay setup.

If you're happy to stick with QNAP, upgrading to 12TB or even 14TB drives would give you the space you need. But if you're open to other brands, Synology's DS923+ is worth considering too—very reliable, easy to use, and works well with Macs.

With your £1500 budget, you'll be able to find a solid solution with either brand. Let me know if you need more details or recommendations!
