UNIFI NAS

#1
Hi Guys,

Have you had a chance to use the unifi NAS with Plex server?

I was wondering what the performance would be like or even if it’s possible. I have a Mac mini and my Plex server and was looking at the unifi NAS to hold my data but didn’t know what the performance would be like.

Wonder if you have had a play with this yet?

Many Thanks

The UniFi NAS doesn't actually support direct Plex server installation, so you won't be able to run Plex natively on the NAS. However, you can still use the UniFi NAS for storage and link it to a Mac PC, Nvidia Shield TV, or any compatible device that runs the Plex server.

As long as your Plex server is running on a device like your Mac Mini or Shield TV, it will be able to access media from the UniFi NAS. Even 4K video should stream perfectly fine to these devices as long as they are directly connected to the Plex server and the NAS is used purely for storage.

So, while the UniFi NAS won’t host Plex, it can easily work as your media storage solution, with streaming handled by your other devices.
