Hi, just bought Synology DS224+, have enjoyed watching many of your videos (I hate seagulls lol) and were helpful in making my decision. Due to space issues in basement, I don’t think I can have a “wired” connection to my router, but wondering if I can connect NAS to one of the WIFI extender pods plugged into wall upstairs (they have an Ethernet port on the underside).
Assume speed will be a factor, looking to use my NAS storing/streaming my media content locally.
Tks

Congrats on getting the Synology DS224+! Using a WiFi extender pod with an Ethernet port is definitely a viable option if running a wired connection directly to the router isn’t possible. It’s not ideal compared to a direct wired connection, but it should work.
You're right to assume that speed could be a factor. WiFi extenders usually cut the available bandwidth in half, and this could impact streaming or transferring large files to/from your NAS. If your media is in high resolution (like 4K), buffering could be an issue, but for regular HD content or local backups, it should be manageable.
If you find speed too limiting, consider upgrading to a mesh WiFi system, which typically offers better speeds and stability than standard extenders.
