Upgrading QTS on unsupported systems

#1
I have recently upgraded an hs-251 to qts 5.1 which it doesn't support but is working fine.

I think the nameing they use allowed the 251+ firmware to load due to a naming convention

but that leads me to another question

I have other systems that i would like to upgrade for basic reasons to the new OS even if it doesn't have official support

I want to stay with the QTS os.. any thoughts

Upgrading an unsupported system to a newer QTS version can be a bit of a mixed bag. While it's true that sometimes the naming convention might allow certain firmware to load on a similar model, the key factor to consider is system resources. The performance of the system could range from being fast and smooth to feeling sluggish. If you've already experienced positive results with the HS-251, there's a chance it could work similarly for your other systems. Just keep in mind that this approach is not officially supported, so it's essential to be prepared for any potential issues that may arise. Ultimately, it's a matter of balancing the benefits of the new OS features against the potential risks and performance considerations. If you have specific models you're considering upgrading, I'd recommend checking community forums or user experiences to get a better idea of the potential outcomes.
