Defragmenting RAID drives

Hi, should one defrag RAID drives? My Perfectdisk install can't see a RAID drive, so I presume an app will need to be installed on the NAS?

The need to defragment a RAID drive depends on the type of RAID configuration you are using. In general, it's not necessary to defragment RAID drives because RAID systems are designed to prevent performance degradation over time.

For example, RAID 0 and RAID 1 do not require defragmentation because they offer no redundancy and simply strip data across multiple drives, respectively mirror the data across multiple drives.

In the case of RAID 5, RAID 6, and RAID 10, which use parity information to provide data protection, defragmentation is not required because the drives are accessed in a balanced manner, which helps maintain optimal performance.
