object detection

#1
interested in DVA1622 - I have a problem with a couple of people with dogs whose owners don't clear up after them. Would this be able to identify them (and their dogs) when they walk past.
Thanks for all the videos etc.

Thanks for reaching out and for the kind words about the videos!

The Synology DVA1622 is a great choice for security and surveillance, as it has built-in deep learning-based video analytics that can detect people, vehicles, and even objects. However, for your specific situation—identifying people with dogs—it’s important to set expectations.

What the DVA1622 Can Do:
People Detection: The DVA1622 can accurately detect people and send alerts when someone enters a designated area. This could help you identify when individuals are walking past.

Animal Detection: While it’s primarily designed for detecting people and vehicles, the DVA1622 might not reliably distinguish dogs specifically. Some of Synology's analytics can detect objects, but precise animal detection may not always be guaranteed, especially distinguishing between different types of animals.

Facial Recognition: If you have a clear, consistent view and high-quality footage, the DVA1622 can perform facial recognition, which might help identify specific individuals. However, this would require setup and the creation of a database of known faces.

Practical Approach:
Zone Configuration: You could set up specific zones and rules to monitor areas where these incidents are happening frequently. The system can alert you when someone enters these zones, allowing you to review footage.

Manual Review: While the DVA1622 may not always automatically identify dogs, setting up alerts for people detection means you can manually review these instances to see if they are accompanied by dogs.
