Disk failure

Hi,
I’m about to buy the DS 220+ with 2x4TB WD disks… I’m planning to use them on a RAID1 configuration. My questions are;

1- Should a disk fail in the future, would I be able to replace that disk with a higher capacity one whilst still retaining all the data ?

I know that in raid 1 the array is only as big as the smallest disk but I would be doing so in order to upgrade both disks to a higher capacity, should I need to do so.

2 - On the same scenario as question 1, could I take out both disks, replace them with 2 higher capacity ones, then just copy all the data from the health one onto to new pair ?

Yes, if a disk fails in the future, you can replace it with a higher capacity disk while retaining all the data. This is called "disk replacement" or "disk expansion". However, the new disk must have at least the same capacity as the smallest disk in the RAID 1 array.
