Regarding Zettlab NAS Review

#1
Dear NAS compare,

After reviewing the Zettlab NAS. A question raised for this one. Regarding the hot-swapping function of this NAS. As currently the device is not support hot-swapping currently in the Kickstarter comments, and it will be researched. Based on the current hardware your received for testing, could you please comments if this device could support hot-swapping in the future, just lack of software capability, or simply, the hardware cannot support hot-swapping?

Thanks,
Drake

The Zettlab NAS does have removable drive bays, and based on the hardware design, there’s no obvious reason why it wouldn’t support hot swapping. Typically, if the hardware supports removable drives and proper SATA/SAS backplanes, hot swap capability is possible.

If the current software or firmware doesn’t fully enable hot swapping yet, it might just be a matter of future updates. But from a hardware perspective, the design looks ready to support hot swapping.
