Jonsbo N2/N3 compatibility with CWWK i5-12450H mobo

#1
Hi all - a few questions i'm hoping to get some help on (apologies in advance if these sound like really simple Q's!)

I have just seen the Youtube video on 5 GREAT DIY NAS BUILDS - UNDER $500

I'm looking to get the CWWK i5-12450H mobo and have few questions:

- I need to get the mobo with the SFF8643 + 4 NVME option to allow me to connect 4-5 HDDs. I expect SFF 8643 is just the cable and the 4 NVME is the actual backplane that I will connect my sata drives to. Is this correct?

- How would the 4 NVME backplane be fitted into a Jonsbo case? Looking at the case and the pics of the backplane this wasn't obvious to me.

- Would the mobo + SFF8643 + 4 NVME fit into a Jonsbo N2, Jonsbo N3 or both? My pref is the N2 given the small form factor but happy to go with the N3 if this is the only option.

Many thanks

SFF8643 and 4 NVMe Backplane:
You’re mostly correct—SFF8643 is just the cable, and the 4 NVMe backplane is where you’ll actually connect your drives. Just double-check that the backplane supports SATA drives (if you’re planning on using those), as some are optimized for NVMe SSDs specifically. Also, make sure the motherboard supports this setup, as not all motherboards with SFF8643 connectors offer full backplane compatibility.

Fitting the 4 NVMe Backplane in a Jonsbo Case:
The 4 NVMe backplane will need to be installed in one of the 3.5” or 2.5” drive bays, depending on your case configuration. The Jonsbo cases usually have modular drive trays that might allow you to configure things easily, but you’ll need to see if the backplane’s dimensions align with the available space. The pictures of the backplane are indeed a bit tricky—if you're unsure, looking for user reviews or assembly guides for similar builds might help clarify the exact fitment.

Jonsbo N2 or N3 Compatibility:
Between the two, the N3 would be the better fit. The N2 is pretty compact, and while it could work, you might run into clearance or airflow issues with the added backplane and cables. The N3 provides more room for components, so it’s a safer choice for your setup.

Hope that helps, and good luck with your build!
