4kn HDD SHR-1 conversion to SHR-2

#1
Love your sight - I became aware of it in the UK when I was there a few years ago and it is the reason I went for a Synoloyg NAS 920+. I started with 2 WD Red Pro 6TB drives and then went to a 3rd using SHR-1. I finally went for a 4th but cannot get the 6TB so went for the 8TB. Ultimately I wanted to switch to SHR-2 because I also use it for my photos in addition to Time Machine backup. (The NAS is additionally backed up to a fire-proofed HD via HuperBackup via USB because I am anal about my pictures. The dilemma is the warning about not having a 4kn HDD to use the SHR-2 conversion. I have seen things about the WD "Hugo" program to convert the drives but I have a MAC. So, is this conversion possible or do I now have a 4 drive system with only a one drive back-up?

Thanks in advance.

You could try and convert it. But I would recommend getting a matching HDD for the RAID.
