Connecting Two NAS Drives over the Internet

Hi there. Thank you for your help back in December 2020, my Synology NAS drive is probably one of the best bits of kit I have ever bought!

I am looking at getting a second NAS drive to mirror the one at home (up/down) which I want located in my second, home as a back up but also being able to access and modify my files when there.

Is that possible with something like Tailscale?

Do you provide a paid consulting service that could assist me setting that up as its a little beyond my pay grade.

This simplifies things like file access, backups, and sync tasks without needing complex network configuration or exposing ports to the internet.

In your case, Synology Drive ShareSync is one of the easiest tools to set up for this purpose. It allows you to sync selected folders between two Synology NAS devices automatically, keeping your data in sync across locations. It works great over Tailscale, so you get both security and flexibility.

For backups, you can also use Hyper Backup to push data from one NAS to the other for a versioned backup instead of a live sync — depends on what workflow suits you best.
