External SSD or HDD.

I'm looking to use it as a second back up for my movies, book and magazines and music. Documents, photos.

For a second backup solution with your budget of $220, you’ll want to weigh the pros and cons of SSD vs HDD.

HDD: At this price, you can get an 8TB HDD which would offer plenty of storage for your movies, books, magazines, music, and documents. HDDs are better for bulk storage and are usually more affordable than SSDs in terms of price per terabyte. You’ll be looking at something like the Seagate Expansion 8TB or WD Elements 8TB which offer a good balance between price and capacity.

SSD: While SSDs are faster, they tend to be more expensive per terabyte. For $220, you might only get around 1TB-2TB of SSD storage, which could be fine if you need faster read/write speeds for certain files. If you’re aiming for speed and portability, an external SSD like the Samsung T7 might be a great option, but you'll need to go with a lower capacity due to the budget.

Given your intended use as a backup for large files like movies and music, HDD would be a more cost-effective choice, providing plenty of storage for the price. Just remember, SSDs can offer faster speeds, but for a backup solution where storage capacity is key, HDDs usually make more sense.
