I am really interested in the Aoostar R7 and upon adding it at check out on AliExpress, it doesn't add VAT (I'm assuming due to the fact that the item is above £135). I was therefore wondering what your experience is ordering such items on AliExpress in terms of UK Customs.
I look forward to hearing from you

Great choice on considering the Aoostar R7 for your homelab and personal cloud needs! Regarding ordering from AliExpress and potential customs implications, it's essential to be aware of the following:
VAT and Import Duties: Items above £135 may be subject to VAT and import duties. AliExpress may not include these charges at checkout, and you might need to pay them separately when the item arrives in the UK.
Customs Clearance Process: When the item reaches the UK, it will go through customs clearance. This process might introduce additional time delays, and you may need to provide information about the purchased item.
Carrier Handling Fees: Some carriers charge handling fees for customs clearance. It's advisable to check with the carrier delivering your item for their specific fees.
Import Regulations: Ensure that the product complies with UK import regulations and standards to avoid any issues during customs clearance.
Tracking and Communication: Keep a close eye on the tracking information provided by AliExpress, and be responsive to any communication from the carrier or customs authorities.
Considering your budget of £500 and the value of the Aoostar R7, it's wise to factor in potential VAT and customs charges when making your purchase decision.

Aliexpress has the smallest rates I've ever encountered, regardless of who does the shipping.
At least for Europe, where I currently reside.
