Considering your requirements, the Synology DS224+ appears to be a solid choice for your needs. It supports Plex, our preferred media server, and Jellyfin if that aligns better with your preferences. This NAS allows you to efficiently manage your extensive collection of MP3s, play them on Sonos while preserving tags, and store and access your FLAC files without conversion. Additionally, you can seamlessly sync your photos from Dropbox and enjoy movie streaming to your TV. However, if the video raised concerns, you might also want to explore the QNAP TS-264 as an alternative, which offers similar features. Both the DS224+ and TS-264 are reliable options for your budget and can handle your multimedia requirements. For local-only access, consider non-"plus" models as a budget-friendly alternative.
