Buying advice - Enquiries - 10-21-2023 Hi. I have an office where I have 3 computers, want to add another. We do mainly video editing then also photo editing. Wanted to setup a NAS. I know it will require also a network upgrade, currently all the PCs are running off the ISPs router. The ability to add more drives is a must. Thanks. RE: Buying advice - ed - 10-27-2023 For your video and photo editing needs in a business environment, setting up a robust NAS is an excellent choice. Given your requirements, here's a recommendation that should serve you well now and in the future. I would suggest considering the Synology DS1621+ NAS. It's a powerful 6-bay NAS with expandability options, which aligns with your need to add more drives. It features a Quad-core AMD Ryzen processor and comes with 4GB of DDR4 ECC RAM, which can be expanded to meet your growing needs. This NAS is capable of handling intensive tasks like video editing, and it supports multiple users seamlessly. It also includes M.2 NVMe slots for caching, enhancing data access speed. To create a network upgrade, you can add a dedicated Gigabit or 10 Gigabit Ethernet switch to your setup, ensuring high-speed data transfer between your computers and the NAS. This will significantly improve your workflow and efficiency, especially for video editing. With the ability to support up to 6 drives and the potential for expansion, the Synology DS1621+ should provide the storage and performance you require for your office. https://amzn.to/49aHSuX |
